Common Species

The three most commonly encountered species of cockroach here are the German cockroach, the oriental cockroach, and the American cockroach.

The German cockroach is the most common indoor species. They prefer kitchens and food preparation areas as well as bathrooms. German cockroaches carry their egg cases with them.

The oriental cockroach, often called a waterbug is most often seen outside the home in dense vegetation, water meter boxes, and in storm and sewer drains.

The American cockroach is also mostly associated with the outside being found in water meter boxes, sewers, and storm drains.
